Troubleshooting

No hot water

No hot water is one of the most disruptive problems in the home. Some causes are simple, others need an engineer.

Safe checks you can do

  • Check the boiler display for an error code and make a note of it.
  • Confirm the boiler has power and the pressure is above 1 bar.
  • Check the hot water setting or timer has not been changed by accident.
  • On a combi boiler, try running the hot tap for a couple of minutes; some models briefly lock out after a flame failure.

Likely causes

  • Low boiler pressure after a leak or after bleeding radiators.
  • A failed diverter valve that sends heat to radiators but not the hot tap.
  • A faulty thermistor, sensor or ignition part that needs replacement.
  • On cylinder systems, a failed immersion heater, thermostat or motorised valve.

When to call Tignite

If the basics check out and you still have no hot water, do not keep resetting the boiler. Note any error code and call us, we will bring the likely parts with us.
